Felted merino scarves

Felted merino scarves

About Us

The South Auckland Spinners & Weavers are a group of wonderful ladies (alas we have no men yet !) There are approximately 25 of us who meet every Tuesday throughout the year except for the month of January when we all disappear to our various relatives/friends/holidays etc for a different sort of bonding.

By the time everyone comes back from whatever they were doing over that period, the ladies cann’t wait to get back into their crafty pursuits.

The group has been in existence for about 30years as far as we can ascertain and we have one member still with us who has been around for 26 of those years.

The ages of the Group range from late 30’s early 40’s to their 80’s, so there is a lot of knowledge waiting to be released which we capitalize on.

Within the Group we have people who are competent in spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing, knitting, crochet, tatting and all are willing to teach and help other members. Some also have other hidden talents which pop out when required.

We have access to excellent yarn supplies that we need for our projects, as well as contacts for most related products. The Club has a 4shaft jack loom that is in constant use by members and most participate on whatever project is going at the time. There are also various size table looms plus spinning wheels which potential new members may use.
